 Last week I said that I would write some more on the topic of dissociation and demonization since there were questions on how to tell the differences between the two. I think that not all the people who work with trauma clients are trained mental health professionals. My goal in this blog I want to give information that helps in telling the differences between dissociation and demonization. I will start with questions that help rule out demonization, or at least slow down the conclusion that its demonization. Therefore, we will start with questions that focus on common information on mental health. 1. Obtain a list of medications they are taking or have taken. Their problems may be due to the side effects of medications or the medications may prevent them from going through deliverance, which could be upsetting for them.  Many of you who have followed my practice and my writings, you have known that I have worked with many people who were traumatized as children. Sometimes those traumas continued into adolescence. As a result of the traumas, they developed dissociative disorders. Some of those whose traumas may have had a dark spiritual aspect may have developed demonic complications and sought help from deliverance ministries . I am sure many have received help, especially if the deliverance ministers are aware of the mental health often associated with trauma. These include, Post Traumatic Disorder and dissociative disorders. These trauma based disorders often have symptoms that mimic other disorders which often lead to misdiagnosis or misunderstanding of what is really going on with that client or patient.  Before starting blogging, I think it would be a good idea to introduce myself even though most people who would be interested in what i have to say know me pretty well.   I am a licensed professional counselor in the great state of Texas. I got my PhD in counselor education from  the university of North Texas in 1990. Before that  I earned a Master of Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1984. Before that I earned a Bachelor's degree in Biblical studies from Dallas Bible College. My work experience is very broad. I have done Individual and group counseling in both out patient and in patient settings. I have developed trauma treatment programs that have been used in several psych hospitals.  I have also written several books that can be found on amazon.
